After my first child was born, I moved back with my little family to my home town in Holland and had two more children.
Six years later I felt it was time to make my dream of living in Australia come true and we started the emigration process as a family before eventually moving here. Unfortunately after five years of living in Australia my marriage broke down.
I was a jobless, single mum with 3 young children with no way to financially support them. I knew I had to reinvent my life.
Success is no accident. It's hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do - Pele
I started studying at Tafe (Diploma in Accounting) which my children hated as I had to drop them off at before school care as it was a 45 minute drive. I then began working during school hours as an administrative assistant in an accounting office whilst simultaneously studying for a Bachelors degree in Accounting to develop my skills further. Six months later, I was fortunate enough to be offered a position as an Accounting Assistant.
After four gruelling years without having any social life, I finally had my degree in Accounting. I must admit I was pretty proud of myself. I started working more hours and it didn’t take long before I always felt tired and stressed with the constant overbearing pressure to reach KPI’s and to complete big tasks in a short amount of time.
Also I felt I had no time to do much else and always looking towards the weekends when I could go to the beach with my kids. As the years went on I started to feel more and more miserable. With the daily headaches, crippling anxiety and on the brink of a burnout, I knew it was time for change.
